Anticoagulants for Atrial Fibrillation

Learning Objectives

  • Anticoagulation therapy has entered a new era with the introduction of the new oral anticoagulants (NOACs). NOACs afford a cost-effective opportunity to selectively turn on and turn off anticoagulation. Here, Dr John W Eikelboom reviews the general considerations in the reversal of oral anticoagulant therapy and the emerging evidence for the use of NOACs in stroke prevention and atrial fibrillation.
